I'm looking at keeping the dog hair & off-roading mud from my border collie off the rear cargo area, so looking for a fabric liner that would cover the sides, cargo floor, and back of the 2nd row seats.

The "Hatchbag" listed as the 2nd option on this page looks like a good option to me: http://www.sportomotoring.com/toyota-land-cruiser-cargo-area-protection.html#

Anyone using this liner or have another one that they recommend more?

Thanks,
-=- D. J.

Thats pretty cool. I just use husky liners all around and they work great, but I still get dog hair all over the cargo area walls and seat... Just have to wipe it down every now and then. I would be curious to see how they work.

LINE X the whole interior;)

That one will work, but it is messy fitting. There are waterproof/snow proof mats with 1-3" lips on the edges that fit perfectly in the back. Like a factory mat but more rugged. Weather Tech, Husky and others.

How about Line-a-trunk?

Thanks -- I looked at the Husky liners and might get one, but it won't protect the sides or the seat backs -- and I know that a bunch of the cruisers I looked at had damage to the 2nd row seat backs and cargo area sides...

Looks like there's another one out there (about double the price :frown:) that looks like a much more exact fit that covers the sides, seat backs, and lines the whole rear cargo area when the 2nd row is up.

Line-a-trunk: Toyota Landcruiser 99-05 Cargo Liner, models w/ Liftgate, 40/20/40 2nd Row Bench, 3rd Row Bench-Toyota Line-A-Trunk Cargo Liner.

Just looks like it doesn't wrap or cover the 3rd row seats when they're folded up.

Anyone tried the Line-a-Trunk?

Do a forum search on "seat covers". There are a ton of things that will protect your seats and most will fold with the seats. No need for them to be connected to the rear mat to do their job.

The sides is another issue and if you are hauling a ton of sliding stuff (or super worried about dog hair) then you might want some color matched moving pads and have someone finish off the edges and hang them like curtains (maybe?). It would be cheaper than this military like set which looks nice.

Every Boy Scout leader on the planet ought to own one of those...:mad::mad:

If you're look for seat covers only, SOR is closing out their old cloth ones (replaced by the new Tuff Duck covers). Cheap.

I bought the hatchbag for the exact same use - to keep the dog hair and slime from my two rottie mixes off the interior of the cargo area. and also for any other dirty stuff I want to throw back there.

I can say that it does the job, though not the prettiest and not the easiest to install due to all those velcro pieces you have to 'stick' in the exact spot on the plastic panels so that the liner will attach in the most correct position. I live in the Atlanta metro area and the summers can get pretty hot. The glue that holds the velcro pieces to the liner itself melted and became a gooey mess. They would have fell off completely if it wasn't for the fact that they were sewn on at the very edge of the liner. I was able to slide them back into place - until the next really hot day!

I thought I followed the instructions pretty well, cleaning the area with the alcohol swabs they provided before attaching everything, but a couple still fell off where the cords attach that hold the back piece in place. They use 3M products for all the velcro attachments. The folks at the company were very helpful when I called and said they could send new velcro pieces anytime.

As for staying in place during use, the dogs have a tendency to 'step' into the corners and if the liner slides any so that there are gaps, the weight of the dogs (100lbs and 80lbs) stepping down onto the liner will separate the velcro in those spots. If that makes sense?

Overall, it does the job and is very easy to take out and clean. I would buy it again, but would probably take a little more time in trying to line up everything.

BTW, I also got that net piece that they sell to go across the top part. It's obviously only a deterrent for the dogs since it's not permanently attached in any way (uses this hard plastic velcro type stuff) and it works well enough for me in that the dogs keep their heads in the back and drool on the liner which can be easily taken out washed.

Hi my name is Cletus,

I had a bad experience with a weathertech cargo liner in a pathfinder I owned (That lip is actually an enormous PITA), so when I got the LC I looked for alternatives. Some damn web site (probably this one) said you could use a pick up bed liner. Went to tractor supply and bought a 1/2 inch thick textured rubber bed liner, thing weighed 75 lbs easy. I carefully trimmed it to fit perfectly and put it in the back. I was very proud of myself. Then my dogs ate it.
Plan B occurred the next weekend. Having some left over 3/4 inch stain grade plywood, I cut a piece to fit perfectly in the back. I did not sit right cuz of the 3rd row mounts, so I cut out holes for the mounts. The who piece was very difficult to get in and out so I cut it in half. I was going to cover it with left over bed liner, but I had to fill in the holes I cut for the mounts. So I put another layer of left over 3/4 inch plywood over the one with the holes. Glued and screwed it is now 1.5 inches thick and weighs a ton. In order to get it in and out of the truck for cleaning etc I cut it into 3 pieces paralell front to back.

The final touch was to attach the bed liner with screws and washers. It gives good grip for the dogs and will provide a good base for my future back country hill jack drawer system.

All in all kind of a ridiculous overkill deal but it does work. Pics to follow.
