So here's a dumb question that hopefully someone can answer, where the heck are mounting bolts on my carb? I've disconnected everything else, I just can't find the &%$# mounts

4 of them at the base (2 against valve cover, and 2 opposite them). A nice stubby 10mm works good.

Except the're 12mm....:flipoff2:

You have to watch the linkage too, and not fawk it up.

you did label all the vacuum hoses??

And they are not bolts. There are four 12mm hex nuts that hold the carb and linkage onto the manifold.

It may be necessary to use a 12mm 12pt stubby combo wrench, standard length wrench and long pattern wrench, and maybe a 12mm 12pt distributor wrench.

I labeled them and still f'd it up. There are diagrams all over mud that are better than labels. Agreed - you need a minor to reach some of the stuff on these engines.

I used one of those wrenches where the box end is offset to the handle (similar to a distributor wrench, but more generic) - the box end sits about an inch lower than the handle. It helped, but it seems like for a lot of the bolts you just need to turn them a fraction of the turn, reposition, and repeat . . .
and repeat
and repeat
and repeat:mad:
