Had my "F" carb professionally rebuilt 1 1/2 years ago for accel. pump issues. recently have intermitant fuel level problem.

Carb will "load up", smoke black, then run fuel out bowl from accel pump boot, throttle plate shafts, etc. I've taken float adjustment down to below sight glass, cleaned needle and seat. What else can I try? Is there anything else in ilde circuit in carb that could cause this? Can a bad fuel pump do this? Many thanks!

A bad fuel pump will not do this....

It's a long shot, but start with a clean fuel filter.

Your needle and seat stop the fuel flow into the float bowl....I know that you have cleaned this....but it sounds to me like something is still not correct with it.

Can't imagine how you could lower the float level below half and still get fuel out the accel pump boot.

Bowl would have to be full for this to happen, because there is a hole between them that keeps fuel level even between them.

Three things could cause bowl to overfill. One, like Poser said, is failure of the needle to close against the seat. This often happens if dirt gets between the two parts; it also happens on occasion because the tabs on the float are not properly set.

Second, float could be leaking and not 'float' properly.

Third, I've had two cases in the last year of defective floats where the arm of the float was not cast parallel to the body, and the float was rubbing against the side of the fuel bowl with enough resistance to throw everything out of whack. One of those was on dsrtrdr's carb.
