Holy crap does it look like s***!

I used Zero-Rust on it, followed the directions to the letter. I am very unhappy w/ Zero-Rust b/c it is not a tough coating like POR - w/ 120 grit sandpaper and very modest effort, I get down to bare metal in no time. Perhaps I didn't mix it well enough, but it doesn't set up smooth like other paints and the brush marks are evident. (I did one thin coat then a 2nd medium coat and let it sit overnight.)

Then my total hack spray-paint job just makes it look 100X worse.

Those of you at the OBX this weekend needn't meander off and laugh at it, feel free to laugh at it and me.;)

I will likely pull it within the next few months, have it blasted, and try again this time w/ POR.

I know you're not in Charlotte, but there's a guy here (Drake Coatings) who media blasted my rear bumper and two swingarms and powdercoated them for $150.

Joe, I am sorry to hear this. If you think about going the route of powdercoating then let me know and we will see if we can't get a group deal at one of the local shops listed above.

I'll chime in for the powder coat band-wagon. My bumpers were not cheap, but the PC quality sure is. My bumpers are flaking badly with rust bubbles underneath. I've been lazy & putting it off, but if we can get a group rate sign me up for 2!

and your gonna bolt that thing to a land cruiser !?!?

let me know if you want me to see about a group price. would have to be all the same color and limited prep work for even pricing.

I've got some things, but does depend on the color. I was leaning to a gun metalish grey, but could do black if that's the consensus...
