Anyone have any experience with CCD in their pets?

One of my labs who is now 11 years old has been acting peculiar lately. On 3 separate occasions he was lying down and then for no reason whatsoever started barking (pretty much at the wall) My other lab will ALWAYS bark at the same time if either of them hears something.

It was absolutely quiet in the house each time and there was nothing whatsoever that he would have been barking at. He didn't need to go to the bathroom and he didn't hear anything either.

He had a dazed look to him when he was doing this and he didn't respond to me calling his name at all. He acted as if he didn't know WHAT was going on. This happened 3 different nights.

Otherwise he eats well and acts like he is still a young pup. He responds to commands and loves to play ball and frisbee.

I know that barking is not anything to be concerned about but it was the way he looked and acted that worries me.

I have read that 1 in 3 dogs will develop CCD around his age bracket. Apparently dogs that develop it will not remember people they once loved or they won't remember people or animals they have recently been acquainted with. They sometimes stop eating or forget to eat etc....

Any comments or experiences appreciated.

buddy of mine had a dog he had to put down because of it.

dog basically ended up walking in circles and standing in the corner (nose in corner) of the living room.

not sure what the early signs were on his situation.

pretty sad as it was a very smart dog before that.
