Hey guys, I'm from the Vancouver Island Cruisers. I'm heading down to Indio for Desert Trip with a friend and were looking for places to camp along the way. Most likely taking I-5 simply due to our lack of time to get down there.

Are there better routes we could take other than I-5, more scenic or in closer proximity to camping but without adding too much time to out drive?

We're fully set for bush camping, free is better :D

Heres my rig we'll be taking, 1981 BJ60 SOA on 37" MTRs

thanks for any help in advance!

Hi from another born & raised in Vitoria Mudder.
There is a nice campground south of Rogue River on I-5.
Rogue River is six miles south of Gants Pass.
Hope you have a great trip.

I would recommend somewhere near Pilot rock/Siskiyou summit just south of Ashland, OR. You can be out in the woods and less than 15 minutes from the highway.

Love it! That's exactly what we need, thanks !

Right on! Island guy!
Awesome, it's a busy campground or a little more rustic?
Thank you !

I5 for sure if time is a of the essence.

Little out of the way I like Deer Creek. Its maybe 20-30min outside of Grants Pass. But quite and secluded.

How far from I5?

20-30 min. (Just outside of Selma, OR), rough enough fire road to keep most out.

Did you guys get in any trouble and how was the trip solo home?

Booted from Ashland through LA the next day, and made it to Indio Friday morning. Festival was unbelievable. Blew a ujoint on the way home just outside of Malibu, chose to take the coast home. The rest of the drive was great, apart from all the crackheads haha. Thanks for the meet-up!
