Hi team,

I’ve looked up and down and barely found info. Please help me direct towards the right path. Feel free to post link if you can and I’ll read up.

I just ordered Dobinsons nitro 2” medium lift kit and I’m concerned if I’ll be able to fit 285/70r17 tires. I plan to go 17x8.5 or 17x9 in wheel size.

I can still call Appache4x4 and upgrade my order to 2.5” or 3”. If I’m able to fit 285s then I’ll keep my lift at 2”.

Also this is my daily driver and I will not be doing any kind of off-roading. Just highway driving.

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

It will depend a lot on the amount of offset your new wheels have.
Regardless, you might need to do some light trimming, bending, hammering.

Would it make a difference if I went 2.5” or 3”?

My only concern is I don’t want to be disappointed with the 2” lift and wished I had gone 2.5 or 3.

2.5"-3" would be a better match and you will still be trimming, cutting and relocating stuff.

If no off-roading, and only a DD and highway bomber, then maybe steer away from the big fat tires and go with a tall-skinny.
255-75/17 (32”) will give you the clearance you need with a 2” lift (assuming wheels have stock offset), and will fit in the spare tire location. Your fat 285-70s might not.
You’ll get marginally better mileage, less load on your brakes, and less unsprung weight.
Something to consider...

Thank you for the feedback and guidance gents.

As far as wheels I’m looking at MR 305 NV 17x8.5. I also found a thread here with pics of all the different wheels and lift setup. It was very helpful. I think 2” will be more than fine with me.

Look at the spreadsheet in lexusgxor.com
