i love summer, beer and corn on the cob at meals while camping... I with a little help from a buddy came up with a stupid easy way to campsite corn on cob without boiling water.

we use a bottled gas mini grill, small cooler (to hold all the corn thats cooked) and a dozen ears (wow im really drawing this out).

soak and shuck the corn place on the lit grill, flip the corn so all sides are hot to the touch and then place them into the empty cooler.... cook your burgers/brats/mets/steak (depending on how you roll) and by the time all that is done dive into the cooler and eat your complete meal. The cooler takes the heat and steams the corn and leaves it with the slightest bit of a crunch.

the easiest possible way to make corn with the absolute longest explination on how to do it

(please excuse the poor spelling)

sounds cool! Never thought of using the cooler as a finish-steamer, buit it makes perfect sense.

Here's a thought: buy a 6-pack of beer you don't mind parting with, and soak the corn in it overnight before cooking. Beer corn! I think I'll try hybridizing your method to it.
Thanks for sharing!

i love corn, i really like beer... dont know if I could bring myself to "intentionally" waste beer. i dont think it would change the flavor as the kernels are fairly "sealed?"

Eh, I consider cheap beer pre-wasted.
And you're right, it won't soak into the kernels in quantity, but will soak into the husks, and cobb pretty well, and release beer-y smells as you bite in.

Put corn in cooler with beer. As ice melts the husks soak up water. Leave corn in cooler at least for the day.

Make campfire and cook most of dinner. Put soaked corn with husks still on on hot coals. Corn gets steamed in husks.

Remove from fire, remove husks and silks, slather with butter. My 11 year old son swears it's the best way to cook corn. :P

Try soaking the corn in water for about 15-20 minutes, and then throwing it near the flames of a fire, husk still attached, and let it steam inside. Been doing this for a while now, can't get enough of it. I forget how long to keep it in the fire for, its been since last summer that i've done it this way, but it wont take long to figure it out on your own. No longer than a half hour I guess.

Thats how I do it on the campfire and grill, time is about two beers.
