So, while replacing the pan gasket I noticed this cam wear, how big of a job is replacing the cam?

Guy's I could use some guidence here, are there any shops in the Reno area with experience on old F motors, had I not pulled the pan I would have driven this thing without a care but now...? If I pull the motor can I leave the head on or should I just plan on a rebuild...clueless at this point.

You could put a cam in there (with new lifters), but I would start saving my pennies (Ok dollars) for a rebuild. That looks like abnormal wear and I would want to find out why. Just me.

I'm willing to bet you can find a 2F for an extremely, and I mean extremely, reasonable price. Check with Shawn, I think he has two that were running when they were removed.

Hard to tell from the pics. Sometimes they look really ugly, but everything is fine.

Measuring the lift will tell you, or look at the bottom of the lifters. If they are cupped, you have to get a new cam and lifters.

You flat tappet guys need to start looking at your oil. You really need SF type? That has the zinc needed for them to live. If you don't, you need to run a zinc additive. It's the only thing that keeps flat tappets alive.

Plan on about 1200 to 1400 cash on the rebuild thats what ive been finding just thought i would let you know

The wear doesn't look horrible. I'd say a compression test would tell a lot, and measuring the lift. Compare to stock numbers and go from there.

If it isn't smoking and the power was good enough for what you need, I'd leave it alone.

Decided to forgo the cam replacement, cost was the main factor. So put the pan back on and need to finish the clutch. Trying Rust Bullet on the rusted floor.

Nice!
Ill be bed lining the floor on mine.

I was thinking of the liner stuff, but can you apply it over rust? Using the Rust Bullet as a base, 2 total coats and then a paint primer followed by paint (Rattle Can).

Got the gas tank Hump, and skid plate back from the sandblaster, some primer and a first coat of Rustoleum Black. Been sanding and painting all the parts I've been removing.

New output seal and other gaskets in the tranny, as well as a new Parking Brake Cable the other one was "Stretched". Stuff everywhere...sent the wheels to Les Schwab for blasting and powdercoat, really cheap $30/wheel.
