2007 LX470 - Purchased at 60K, Dec 2010, now with 76K or so on odometer. LexusCare for 8 yrs/120K Mostly daily driver.
I had the alternator die on Friday. Battery light came on and dealer confirmed alternator was bad. $800, but I have now broken even on extended warranty since the right wheel bearing failed a couple of months ago.
Then I got a call, the alternator failed because the cam seal failed and leaked on the alternator. Big dollars, but also under warranty.
So while I've got the warranty, I was talking to the tech that I always have work on the truck and asked about what else made sense to replace. We're definitely doing the timing belt, which should push the major part of the 90K to 105K. With the warranty good for 8 yrs and 120K I'm mostly looking for maintenance items that I would have had done at 90K, i.e., not worried about water pump or other stuff that might fail under warranty....though I'd rather not break down in the boonies and wonder how the warranty will help.
Anyway, anything worth doing while the cam seal and timing belt is being changed? Pulley's, tensioners?
Downside is I don't have time to get parts from CDan, so dealer pricing will be a consideration.
Thoughts?
Thanks...
