I remember there were a few guys who were photographers and one that went to school for that. I have a professional Canon DSLR now but the wife wants a very good camera for her. I have narrowed it down to the Canon G10 and the Panasonic LX3.
I want either of these 2 not what your wife has or your neighbor has. I know about Photography but I can not decide between the 2 since all camera stores have closed down and not able to hold them side by side. Best Buy has the G10 but no one around here has the LX3. from what I have read these 2 camera's are the cats meow before stepping up to a DSLR.

if you dont have one by time I get back I will help you out with some research and review of the products to make sure they are best for what she wants...and will give her opportunity to grow with camera as her skills increase.

I know this is an ultra-compact and it looks like you are looking for a compact DSLR substitute, but this is what we are looking at buying right now.

It's the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1, it is one of the new "tough" cameras but it is getting great reviews and is supposed to take excellent pictures.

Good luck with your search, the Panasonic looks really nice that you are looking at.

well I already have the Olympus Tough 8000. it is the beach, boat, fishing, pool and hunting camera. I am wanting to buy the LX3 for personal use. the Tough takes good photos but not what i am use to taking. I went ahead and bought the wife the Canon G10. This camera is amazing. It also does RAW as well.

Ron,
I am going to need a crash course. I haven't done much photography in about 2 years and last night I went to play with the camera in manual functions and It seems that I have forgotten everything.

I bet its nice.....I want a nice one someday.......You'll have to post up some of your pics....

My fav is a Lomo Fisheye 2 Camera.......the Lomo camera's are eclectic and a little off the beaten path..........I still use Film a lot.....I love the unexpected results I get sometime....It's a nice balance to what is normally a very "controlled" life I live....

Glenn. Thanks for calling me back

Hmmm. i can't remember what type of insurance I have. :D
