I know there are a few of you out there that have left ONSC for the state of Colorado and I may be looking for some assistance in the coming months.
In an effort to assist in our transition out of the Army and back to college in the next 3 years I have managed to talk my wife into moving into a Yurt full time. We found a nice place on an organic farm and are leasing some land for the remainder of our career here in Savannah.
We were about to purchase a new yurt out of VA but came across a GREAT deal out in Colorado. After a a few videos and a few conversations we finally put a deposit down and plan to pick them up in late April if things go well at work. My wife is due May 15th so if I don't make it before then I will have to head out there in June.
My father is going to fly in from Oregon and I am going to fly in from Savannah and we are going to pick up a Penske 26' truck and roll into Arboles, CO where the yurts are. We will ship most of our tools needed in the mail to the location. I figure it will take us around 4 days to completely deconstruct the yurts. And this is why.
We purchased a set of 3 and a stick built bathroom. It consists of 1 30' Yurt with a full custom kitchen, all appliances, wood stove, lighting, and all electrical components. It also includes 2 smaller 24' yurts that should be very easy to tear down as they were just used as bedrooms. The bathhouse is stick built so we have yet to figure out how to tear that down as it has 2 full sinks, a laundry room, toilet, and full shower. It was also dry walled. Lastly there is a 20' metal car shed that was used as an enclosed hallway to travel between all of the rooms and not have to step out into the snow.
I know this appears to be way to the south of where most of you live but I figured it would be worth a shot and we can supply beer and food for anyone that wants to assist. I will try to post pictures soon. I only have a few sporadic small videos and one big one that came via text that I have yet to figure out how to post anywhere.
