We ground too far on my front drivers side caliper trying to make the wrong wheels clear. What years/models am I looking for to find a used one? It's on an '85 FJ60.

pretty much any of them on a cruiser and a V6 IFS mini works too.

but I would reccomend that you get bolts of them from the IFS mini if you are doing it.

Wow, I have never heard of anyone ever grinding too much off. I wanna pic ;)

I haven't seen it yet. My partner in crime just called and said he was trying to grind a little off some little bump. With the wheel spacers, I guess it was just barely scraping.

So easy to take a little more off...so hard to put a little back on :D

Any 09/75-01/90 US model Land Cruiser.

I’ve had good luck with NAPA calipers for the Cruiser and they were reasonable (I think a list of $40 after exchange...only problem is they won’t like your core!).

Your Toyota dealer will take any Toyota caliper in any condition as a core for new ones, even if they're not the same type. My parts guy says they just throw them in a box to be picked up whenever.

I'm going to get junkers from a mini-truck or car & trade them in on new 4Runner calipers.

Thanks guys. Picking up from NAPA in the morning. I doubt it will qualify as a good core, but we'll see what they say.

just slater some grease on it and cover the hole.. you can also upgrade to newer 4 runner calipers with bigger pistons... bigger year range there..

This is what I'm doing. I got the calipers from Auto Zone; loaded for $43 a peice. I'm waiting until I get my FJ80 non-ABS MC gets in before I put them on though.

Although, now that I think about it, if you are having trouble getting those wheel to fit with stock calipers, you will have a grand 'ol time trying to get them to fit with the larger 4Runner calipers.

Done - NAPA rebuilt

8" wheels that I got a "great" deal on ended up being 4" backspacing. They were off a Cruiser, but not a disk brake Cruiser. With 1/2 spacers, they just barely clear, but wheel weights hit the steering arm. With 3/4 spacers, they clear fine. Either requires longer lugs, which no one seems to have around here.

So, we screwed up a caliper and today I may have screwed up a hub while getting to the lugs. before I spend any more money on my "great" deal, I'm just going to buy the right wheels.
