Have any of you installed the Cabelas "Trail Gear" seat covers? I'm thinking about buying them but I'd like to know if anyone else has them and how well they work/fit/look.
The covers can be viewed at this web page:

Thanks!!

dont have any but have been looking too. look to made out of heavy material and water proof. got really good reviews on their web page 4.3 out of 5.

Seem to be a good deal....but the colors just don't fit the FJ in any way....I'd be curious to see how well they fit.

Are they air bag compatible?

???? We don't have airbags in our seats....if your seat says "Airbag" on it then it I believe it's talking about the ones above your head :p, please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure. It just has the airbag sensors underneath the seat, which sense weight and what not.

If your seat has the little fabric tag that says SRS Side Airbag on it, then it has the seat mounted airbag and you don't want anything installed on/over the seat that blocks deployment. Hence you need a cover that is Airbag compatible.

Tag should be located on the outside of the driver and front passenger seats about 3/4 of the way up the side on the stitched seam.

Airbag Package(Side front seat mounted bags plus front and second row side curtain bags) was an option on the 2007 and come standard on the 2008.

Hm...ok...so this airbag shoots out from the side or something? I don't get how this is anywhere near as protective as the steering wheel or side curtain air bags...

Air Bag

Anything to keep you from banging into the door in a crash helps. Ron

The Curtain airbag doesn't protect your hip/lower torso in a side impact.
The combo of curtain and side is better than curtain alone in a side impact.
Go to the IIHS.ORG website and they have explanations and examples. Plug in a few of your favourite vehicles and see how they performed in the tests. Some results are very colourful.

Kokopelli is right. Having been in a crash years ago where the drunk b**** driving a pickup hit a car while coming out of the parking lot of a bar, accelerated across the street, up over the curb and hit me in the side, I can testify that more than my head made contact with metal, glass and plastic.

Thanks for pointing out the air bag issue. The Cabelas seat covers are not air bag compatible and will not work with my FJ. Thanks for saving me a bit of a hassle!

Interesting. Well, sucks that those covers won't work...I'll prob just save up for Wet Okyles.

Go Okole!

I've VERY pleased with fit & finish...can't wait to hit the beach this weekend, then just straight into the cruiser with my wet okole!!
