What are the thoughts on bypassing the trans cooler in the radiator?

It's not a trans cooler, it's a trans warmer. Your transmission likes to operate at a specified temp, this is the heat exchanger that gets it to that temperature quickly. Probably why Toyota put a thermostat in the 200 too, so it can bypass the actual coolers to get up to temp up quicker.
