I am in need of these two valves and seem to be having a hard time finding
them. Would Toyota still have them and if not would anyone have two good
ones there willing to sell. These are the last two items i need for a good
functioning emissions system. TIA

Toyota still had them about about 2 years ago when I got one. Give cruiserdan a call. I think cruiserparts might sell used ones. Check the classifieds here and search them. You can check them with some water on the stove. goodluck

I'm curious about your inquiry. Can you post a few pictures of the valves?

If they are the same as the 4WD VSV valves then you can get them for $17. I am not sure about the application so take my thought with a grain of salt.

No they are not the same. The BVSVs (bimetal vacuum switching valve) are shown on the left hand side of this schematic: http://www.sweetillusions.org/toyota/6.pdf

They are temperature operated valves that are used in the EVAP and spark control emissions systems. They appear to be still available new from toyota, but they ain't cheap...

Edit: One of the BVSV's also is used in the EGR system.

I bought one from Cruiser Dan recently. Not cheap but they appear to be available. Mine was the one for the EVAP.

Cruiserparts sells them for $15. Just make sure you're getting one in decent condition.

Thank god I have a 62. That piping diagram doesn't look fun. Thanks for the info. 2mbb, I didn't want to steer him in the wrong direction.

Thanks guys
Apparently these create the vacumn i am lacking for my smog pump to move air
through the system. At least that is what my mechanic told me after he looked
at the emissions manual. Without proper vacumn no air is moving through the
system.

As much as i hate to do it i should prob. buy them through toyota. I would hate
to buy bad used ones and you all are right they get very brittle and break easy
after long periods of hot and cold ......

sorry to disagree with your mechanic, but neither BVSV is used for the air injection system. The BVSV is used for the spark control (distributor vacuum advance), the EVAP (fue evaporative control) and the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) sysetms (I missed EGR in my previous pump). None of these systems has anything to do with the smog pump. There are switching valves associated with the smog pump system, but they are controlled by the emissions "computer". The schematic below is for the AIR (smog pump) system.
