I have an issue on my 2009 LX570 that I wanted to share with the forum to see if anyone has any suggestions.

The accumulator on the ABS pump assembly was in an endless loop of buzz wait buzz wait and it was driving me nuts. After some research it came down to replacing the ABS pump assembly (p/n 47070-60060) since the effort to replace the accumulator or just the seal was prohibitive. Diagnosed and work done at Lexus dealer.

Out the gate the problem was still there but mostly gone. It's apparently normal for the accumulator to buzz each time you dab the brakes. It's now back with a vengeance. Buzz for 4 seconds, stop 4 seconds - repeat. And it does this with just the ignition on. Lexus tells me that I now need to fork out an additional 2K to change the master cylinder (p/n 47025‑60190) which is a marked up part cost + labor to install.

Here's a link to a video of the problem:

If you turn the volume way up you can hear a secondary flowing noise coming from somewhere beneath it which may be related. There are some bird noises.

I appreciate any wisdom. Hopefully someone has seen this.

The problem went away after my wife destroyed the rear rotors and the rear pads/rotors were replaced. Now the problem is back. Will replacing the master cylinder potentially solve this problem and why?

It does sound like a master cylinder accumulator problem. Our brakes are not vacuum assisted like cars of yore. They use an electronic pump boosted master cylinder. Sounds like yours has an internal leak which doesn't allow it to hold pressure. Replacing does seem to be correct diagnosis.

If you're interested, I actually have a 100% known working one for sale. In my troubleshooting of a transfer case issue, the service manual diagnostic was incorrect and led me to buy ($$$$) and replace a perfectly working master cylinder which is also part of the vehicle stability control/traction control/ABS/CRAWL system. It turned out to be the actuator in my transfer case.

Make me an offer of you're interested.

Hi - any update on this? I’m looking at a 2010 with a very similar symptom.

Thanks
