Buying tires in South America

It'll be close. We're heading up around the beginning to middle of June.

What are you doing for your insurance once you hit the US/Canada?

I was hoping to be back no later than June... don't wanna miss another summer

Insurance is a tricky one. I think it may be easier to insure in the US... US drivers can drive in Canada on US insurance so I don't see why I can't? I'm pretty sure the truck has to have another inspection before I can re-insure it back home, and it ain't gonna pass as-is. Either way it's not a massive deal if I can get it through the US, since I live in Victoria and the ferry from Port Angeles lands right downtown.

If I read your question correctly, you are looking at getting some tires in Brazil? FATE-O makes some really good tires and they are cheap. I bought some for my brother-in-law in Paraguay and they have lasted him about 6 yrs and still going strong.:steer:

I looked at the Fateo's and they were cheaper. Problem was the AT's I looked at didn't look super good on weight handling, were only rated to 40psi (I often run at 50 to avoid flats and maximize fuel mileage on a heavy truck), and were fewer plies all around than average.

Also, the logo just looks like the word "Fate" with a tire next to it. That kind of scared my girlfriend :)

Josh,
That's classic. You just never know what will end up going into the mix on making a decision do you.I bet you when you walked into the first tire place you never thought a scary brand name would ever figure into it. BTW I agree with her riding the way you guys are any "omen" like thing might get under my skin.
