@bctlex: good point. carfax etc says all 3 are south of mason dixon line machines. Leather is comparable on all 3, as well. tires etc. good negotiation tactic ( i like on low offer etc with dealer ) good point.... agree on dealer issue, lol those bastards, lol...I will add in your vote...

Ah fender flares, that's a good sign believe it or not. They were only sold by Gulf States Toyota so the odds are it's Southern truck that is rust free. And either of those colors are good. Mine is thundercloud but I do like white vehicles.

@jason: Yes, she is definitely a southern gal with no undue oxidation. And all 3 are, for that matter. So no separation from each other there. All are good from that perspective.

Sorry, I'm going to change from #1 to #2 due to the mileage you are looking to do with it,I bought a higher mileage older 98 @ 167,000 and put all of the savings back into the truck, bought a timing belt kit and changed all brakes and front wheel bearings, changed uj joints and suspension parts with the money I saved, but I'm only going to put about 5k a year on mine.

Vote changing IS allowed. I guess we all too often car shop for the lowest mileage and/or lowest priced vehicle without taking into account the long term plan......good point.

@nick j:
In option #3, no warranty from dealer.....

Where in NC are you? I just paid 15k for an 03 with 183k on it and had to drive to SC for it. That said, it has less rust underneath than my 2014 Tacoma did and has an impeccable service history largely done at a dealer. People in my area want 13k for an 03 SR5 V8 4Runner with similar mileage so I was happy with the price. I've had it since last Saturday and the last vehicle I felt giddy about was a Subaru Forester XT that I got rid of just before gas hit $5/gallon down here (I've been through a lot of vehicles). I also put 275/70R18 BFG AT KO2s on just before the blizzard hit.

Charlotte area....

Oh, and I'd vote option 2 as well given your choices. Well, unless option 1 had the belt done for the 2nd time at 160k and option 2 had it done for the first time at 140k, then it'd be a harder choice.

Marking you down for opt 2.

We always talk about how mileage is not as important as maintenance history. But the general public who doesn't know these vehicles will think $12K for an SUV with 190K miles is crazy. I'd make an offer sub 10K on number 1 (assuming it checks out on a PPI). Thundercloud also ages better than white IMHO.

Ok I will mark that down for 1/2 vote on #1.

Seeking door #2 tomorrow, will report back.....

Grabbed the favorite yesterday.
I had accumulated a lot of data. Post search depression averted.

2003 (100) White (with wheel flares, oh well)
140k
$14,500 out the driveway
good buying experience from the seller (10 yr owner)
TB and Water pump done recently
decent leather, no cracks etc (gotta get the Leatherique or whatever going)
no rust
new tires - albeit road tires and will prob chg to taller a bit more aggressive, tho not for serious rock/wheeling
engine seems sound, might have the manifold exhaust tick, not sure tho
steering is quick and good
might need new shocks eventually
will remove the running boards (new lift kit, no, maybe I dont know)

Next up....selling the 80 (say it ain't so....)

I am trying to post a list of vehicles that I found available at this time in the SE (and slightly beyond) in classified 100 section, since i no longer need it...

Seams like $500 is the most down people will go for the most part. I was surprised when I did my own negotiations. Based on all the TV shows you would think people work in more wiggle. Well, congrats on the new Hundy. :steer:

Thanks!
