If it is an FJ62, which I think would be the most obvious 1989 Land Cruiser, it will have 5 seats. Two front bucket seats and a three person rear bench seat. In some foreign markets they have a second bench seat in the far rear. Here is a link to all the possible options in a 60-series Cruiser. https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=524551&postcount=8 The extra seats (besides the two front buckets and the bench) are not too practical for US-model Cruisers.

So basically the short answer to your question is there are 5 seats in the Cruiser you are looking at.

I know you can get 3rd row seats. I saw them one time at www.sor.com but can't find them now. I'm sure if you looked you'd be able to find some....somewhere

If it is in AU then you should not have a problem finding a third row set-up. They had them factory over there on some models.

Best bet, if you could would just be to ask the seller. If it is from Australia, it might have some extra seating. I believe the United States market just got the 5 seats, while the other markets got some extra seating depending on a couple of factors. Hope this helps.

Hmmm thanks its a GLX, petrol, twin fuel tanks, twin battery 4wd being sold in Australia. If it has only five I would like to add an extra 2 if I can.

They are available in oz but not common and getting in and out of the 3rd row seat is not fun even for kids.
If you plan on fitting them after make sure the landcruiser has a high roof and also that it has the catches in the floor that hold the seat to the floor(see 1st pic).
Heres some pics of aussie spec 61 and 62 series 3rd row seats.
Note that they usually have extra heating and aircon.

IMO you would be better off looking for the next model, the 80 series if the 3rd row seats are a must.

ok thanks you guys are really helpful. I am sure I am going to have lots of questions when it comes up next week. I purchased it online and got my brother to do a mechanical body check on it. I wouldnt have a clue anyway ekkk !!!!

I did find out its the 5 seater. I was hoping to add a couple of seats maybe the side type. The 4wd has a camper on top that folds out so the plan is to have the extra seats to take extra people camping.

Already have 2 kiddies and a husband to seat and we always end up inviting a few strays. My thought the more the merrier. We have a really big esky to fit in the back but hope with the need of so many less tents and gear we wont have to fully load the back but store some stuff on top of the camper.

Apparently the "dicky seats" are hard to come by which is not good. I want to put my name down with a few places if we decide to keep it. We decided to buy one in another state because they are much much cheaper I think petrol prices and supply and demand has kept the prices low. It is at least half the price of what we would pay around our neck of the woods.

Yeh should have it next week...... will keep you posted! Thanks!
