In as much as I love and appreciate the attributes of my Harley, the sad truth is that I need to make a change. The deadpan honesty is that I didn't like the compromises I had to make to ride such a classic and clean version Harley produced.

It only took a simple question from Regina..."Is there something wrong with the odometer on your bike? It says 5700 miles, you put 6 times that during the 3 years you had your BMW".

That's the sad truth. I put over 35k miles on my BMW, less than 6k on the Harley. My biggest issue is riding in less than favorable conditions, without ABS and acceptable (at best) front brakes, to the heavy bike encourages me to take the FJC (with its robust 13 MPG) when its questionable out. On the BMW, I had no fear of such with how well the ABS and brakes performed. One year going when I was going to UNC, I drove it all but 10 days that school year. I just can't stand driving the FJC back and forth the 40+ miles everyday and need to get back to commuting on my motorcycle. Otherwise, it may become expendable and I can't have that.

Why now? I found the "dream bike" that are hard to find. Buying a BMW CPO (certified pre-owned) give a longer than new warranty and I save on the purchase price in lieu of having someone else break in the first 15k miles on it. This one is perfectly equipped for my needs, maybe a bit more:

So, if, anyone has an extra bit of cash laying around and has been dreaming of the perfectly built and maintained '08 FLSTN 105th Anniversary Edition (2236 of 2500), I paid over $24k (that included the everything below but the Stage 1 kit) when I bought it Nov '07, dealer is offering $15k, match that and its yours:

- Smooth wheel option, security system off the showroom floor.
- Locking hard bags, chrome engine guard w/cruiser pegs, removable windshield, rear pillion w/rack.
- Stage 1 kit - Screaming Eagle intake/K&N filter, D&D FatCat 2-1 pipes, Screaming Eagle Race Tuner. I had it dyno'ed before and after, very nice improvements.
- Bunch of 105th Anniversary "stuff" (helmet, leather tank bag, heated gloves, etc) the wife and kids bought me for Christmas first year I had it.

All service done at Ray Price, has a 5 year extended warranty, always garaged, never dropped, perfect condition...

I know there is an extremely remote chance anyone will have the opportunity, just wanted to open the door, just in case...

Price? My bad if I missed it in the post. I've got a couple of people I can pass this along to that might be interested (one - my father in-law).

PM if that works best.

As i ride with a few groups down this way i will pass it on also for you. Let me know what you are trying to get for it though.

Sorry for the error guys and thanks for pointing it out.

Asking $15k, same as dealer is offering.

Sometimes, I'm as dumb as a rock...

Does Rubi come with it?:grinpimp:

We all know that Rubi's asking price is well into 6 figures according to Time Magazine and the Today Show...

Mmm, a BMW Gelände/Straße. So much better than any Harley. And that is coming from a guy who has rather large Harley tattoo. Me jealous.

I'd love that Harley.... but money and Andrea is preventing me from even considering one.

As much as I want a Harley I don't think it will ever be in the cards for me.

That's a damn good deal Jerry. I'll let Gary know and see if he knows anyone in the market.

This is the second bike I bought from this dealer. Both times, I've been treated well, the "deal" couldn't have gone better except they gave me top dollar for my Harley. The bike was owned by one of the principles at the dealership and has been kid glove serviced. He put fresh tires on it and a fresh set of the cases.

When the need hits, good shop to go to for sure. I'll keep servicing it there also since the Raleigh dealership has gone a bit south in their customer service.

Pics of the fresh ride...

Ramon, if Gary is serious got you a one of a kind up here.

I have never been a motorcycle fan. That BMW is one sweet bike though.
I think you might have just turned me to the dark side.

Congrats

Not for me.... if I get a bike it has to be a cruiser for doing just that... cruising.

I am drawn to that BMW for the expedition appeal to it. Looks great also.
When is your first article in Expedition Journal? Take it out west.
