bumper install questions

FINALLY got confirmation that my bumper from Bent-Up shipped. I took advantage of the 50 degree temps today to remove the stock bumper.
two questions:

1) Do I also need to remove the metal bracket that is just under the valance, the one that the stock bumper attatched to with those pesky push-in connectors?

2) In all the pics I have seen here of aftermarket bumpers, what happens to the wheel well pieces. Did you guys get good info about how to trim them? did you trim them before or after the install?

any help will be appreciated.

1) Cant really answer due to having different bumper. I would think the
destructions would tell you what needs removing. Dont get ahead of yourself.

2) I zip-tied those pieces up and away in case I have to put stock bumper back
on someday. Can't see them and they out of harms way.

I have the Exped bumper and had to remove the center top bracket (see thread in this section titled Expedition 1 bumper install), don't know about yours. For the Wheel well liners, I cut the plactic clips holding the little triangular "cups" on the bottom, and stuffed the rest of the assembly in to the open space on my bumper. It worked out real clean, I'll try and post pics...

1.) I have an ARB and I did have to remove the bracket. I've seen the Bentup bumper in person and it appears to have the top plate in the same location as mine. With that understanding, I'm going to guess that you will need to remove it. Here is a thread with a few pictures that might help you. You can also PM "Angry Andy" on fjcruiserforums or TTORA as he was the first one to have it made. Nice bumper BTW.

2.) I took a box cutter to the inner plastic fender well. I cut them off right at the first bolt that connected to the stock bumper. Then zip tied them in place to prevent rattling.

1. Can't help you with that because I have a different bumper (Demello).

2. I trimmed mine with tin snips, after the bumper was in place; just followed the line of the new bumper and cut quite a bit away. What is left stays put just fine without any other support (zip ties, etc.) on my truck.

Lots of mud and snow this end of the world so I wanted to close in the back of the ARB bumper. I made a 1/8" poly board (puck board) blank to keep the junk out of the signal lights. Sorry about the dirt but you get the idea.

Why OME?

I'm quite ignorant when it comes to suspension mods and want to know what the benefits are of OME over Revtek ? Also what is a reasonable install charge? [OME seems to be favored by most of you]. I intend to install an ARB front bumper [with winch] and a steel rear, make undecided.

OME is a true suspension lift - springs/shocks/struts v. spacers. better performance, travel and ride. There are other true suspension lifts availbale, but are real pricey compared to OME. Also OME has been doing cruiser suspensions since cruisers were being lifted commercially.
