Has anyone put a compressor in place of their smog pump and used a piece of enclosed tubing (round or square) for an air tank? Of course, you wouldn't want to drive around with it under pressure.

Also, has anyone used a piece of tubing (say, 2x8 rectangular) as a simple bumper?

Can I ask why you wouldnt want to drive around with it under pressure? Is it really enough to be dangerous?

I purchased a York that I plan to use for on board air and I was thinking of finding room for a tank. I dont like the idea of a bumper tank because I have never seen one that would have good clearence and still work as a tank.

My FJ55 has a piece of 3x6 tube as a front bumper/airtank. Ive never run airtools off of it, by I have filled a couple of tires back up. I have pics, but there at home. PM me if you want pics.

You could either build an ARB style bumper into an air tank and the clearance would not be too much of an issue. I don't think that it would be that hard either, just a couple of fittings.

Cool idea.
