Hey guys. I'm new here I've been into off roading for sometime now. But recently had to sell my old jeep. But now I'm in the market to start a new build. And I'm coming to you guys for some advise. I'm looking to make a good general offroad vehicle. So far here are my needs. I'm looking for something small. Under 100" wheel base. Preferred something under 90". I will be riding mostly trails with some mud but nothing crazy and some rocks again nothing to crazy. It's going to be trailered. I won't be running tires any bigger then 35s. I'd like an auto. Carb/FI doesn't matter but leaning more towards a carb because of the simplicity. I'm not looking for crazy amounts of lift I'm going to cut/trim to make tires work I want low center of gravity but have the ground clearance that 35s offer. I'm pretty good with my mug welder so welding isn't a problem. So here's my question. What would a good low cost starting platform be. I'm aiming for cheap because of the fact that I plan on cutting apart what ever I build. And advise would be greatly appreciated.

Not too many rigs that are under 90" wheelbase out there. I would suggest a Suzuki samurai, swap some toyota mini truck axles with toyota leafs, and you're good to go. Would make a rad little rig. They have an 83" base, and you could stretch it to 86 or so and be a bit more stable IMO.
