I have been looking for a good 60 or a 62 for a DDer for a little while. Found a nice rust free 60 (but a little beat up) in Arizona that if I get the owner down a little I may be willing to purchase. It has a rod knock also, for what its worth so engine is basically toast. The good news is I may have stumbled into another cheap 4BT by accident this morning so I'm thinking maybe do a "as reasonably cheap as possible" built to make this 60 my DDer. But it will require at least a 4" lift and the only 4" lift I am aware of (without shackles etc) is the BTB 4" spring kit. $287 a pair makes the price right as well. Weight of the 4BT is maybe a hair more (100lbs or so) than the 2F. So.. I am wondering if people have experience with them, do they settle quickly, ride like ass, etc etc??

Thanks, Andre

Where did you find this BTB kit? I haven't ever read or heard about it.

What are the weight ratings?

More info on the springs...

And I'm in Phx if you need someone to look at that cruiser for you.

Edit: found this...

Andre,

I ran the FJ60 BTB springs under my 6AT. I had to add an leaf (found one from a 4" set of FJ40 lift springs). I only went with BTB because I thought it'd be faster then Alcan (which was about the same price). But, BTB lied when they said it was in stock... then they shipped my 4 rear springs. Ugh. I'd go Alcan... then you can just spec the springs the way you want them.

I ran Alcan springs on my old V8J60, and they broke in faster and road nice then my BTB springs

Thats a new one to me. Never heard of BTB. I have alcans waiting to go on. Hopefully will get them on this dec. !! I would go SOA or alcan. You will have to search on both to get adv. and dis adv.

Also look on the thread about shes cummin... hes installing a 6bt and looks good as well as might help you learn a little.

BTB stands for "Been Taken Badly". They are a high-end Cruiser shop that was in San Jose, Cali but now in Vegas. They built really nice trucks, some of the first Vortech/nv4500 rigs out there. But the 125K price tag and more importantly... really bad attitude and worse customser service, marred their reputation. They still have plenty of rich, ignorant customers to keep them busy, but I can't recomend ever giving them a penny. I regret the springs I bought (they worked, but on principle, I still regret it).

I have heard absolutetly horrible thinga about them too. Thing is Alcans are almost twice as much if I remember correctly and honestly (maybe this is dumb) but I'm just looking for a good cheap 4" spring and no one makes one for a 60 other than them and $pecter... Anyway... Andre

Cant remember but I think its actually about $288 a spring. Or maybe its $188 a spring but one of the two, pretty sure not the latter... Also a friend went this route for a 4BT swap and had some bad experiences, you can read about it here in this section. It was "grease cruiser" so I was thinking maybe a Specter or a BTB set and I can tweak with the leaves etc but either would work if I can afford it..

dch, what about MAF? i have a lift from them on my 55 and it seem to carry wieght very well (setled only 1/2 inch w/~900#s in the truck and a 1200# trailer). doesn't flex to well though.
