I'm about to BT45-TOY bluetooth adapter in my 06 LX. I've read all the threads about it. To those of you who have installed 1 or another similar device, what is the best place to install it:
  1. behind air vent
  2. under center console
  3. inside center console
  4. glove box

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I used double sided sticky tape and stuck it on the side of the cabin air filter box, behind the glove box. Just enough room to squeeze it in there.

Thanks guys. I want ahead and installed it this evening under the center console and also put in a USB adapter where the cigarette lighter used to be. What a great little device!

I'm about to order the BT45. What USB adapter did you get?

USB Flush Mount Car Cable -... Amazon product ASIN B06WWGYM16
This gives you USB and AUX ports. This is what I have.

Yep! This one is great. That’s what I used. Finally just hooked up an onyX Plus to the AUX port yesterday. :)

In terms of placement of the BT45-TOY, I was able to place it behind one of the air vents, if I remember correctly. It was definitely in the vicinity of / behind the head unit.

I just bought my first LX. It is a 2007 model and was surprised how poor the stock Bluetooth was. I decided to go with the BT45 after reviewing the forums. I used the Brady Adventures YouTube video as a guide thinking I would install behind the glove box.

Once I popped out the molding around the radio (which was the most time consuming to ensure nothing snapped) it was very easy and straightforward to remove the vents and glove box. What I found surprising was how tight it was behind the glove box and why so many recommend putting it there or under the center console.

I put a light pointing up on the drivers side near the pedals and found a relatively easy route to get the cable installed beneath the steering column molding. While doing this I noticed a nice pocket to install the extra mic cable on the drivers side next to where your left foot usually sits. It’s right beneath the hoot latch and has plenty of space for excess mic cable. I also found it very straightforward to route the mic cable from the visor behind the door molding.

For what it’s worth the reason I chose this side was easy access to the BT45 box in case I wanted to change the dip switches and there was much so more real estate to make a clean installation.

I hated the idea to install this box in the same area I would be accessing to change the cabin filters down the road so this worked really well.

I would guess if my kids weren’t asking to crawl around my new ride the entire installation would have probably taken less than an hour. I was also very surprised how nice the sounds quality was once I tested it out.

I decided to use the SAT dip setting bc it actually displayed the song info on the display.

Hope this helps and I’ll try and post some pics.

I recently bought a 2006 LC that has a BT45-TOY installed.

Has anybody been able to get around the following annoyances?

- using the stock bluetooth you can use the address book on the LCD display to browse contacts and call people. The only way I've been able to figure out how to place a call using the BT45-TOY is to use Siri on my phone.

- the stock bluetooth also shows who is calling on the LCD display. Only way to know with BT45-TOY is to look on the phone (which I had to RAM mount to easily see)

- the BT45-TOY requires operating a different set of buttons to answer a call, decline it. Not sure if I even know how to mute it. I had to read the manual in order to figure them out. Other drivers (i.e. wife) clueless.

I think being able to use Bluetooth Audio makes it a worthwhile upgrade but curious if anybody has been able to get past the above.

thanks!

Did you ever find answers to these issues?

Did you ever find answers to these issues?

Not completely, but I do have a workaround.

My phone is bluetooth is paired to both the "BLUETOOTH HANDSFREE" and to the "BT45-TOY".

I use the stock built in bluetooth for all my phone calls etc. (which works with the LC touch panel, steering buttons etc.) and I use BT45-TOY for all my music listening.

When a call comes in I have to occasionally select bluetooth handsfree as the output option for the call on my phone which is a minor annoyance but from there on out works fine. Nice thing is that when a call comes in, phone automatically dims the audio playback.

Jury is out on whether the BT45-TOY bluetooth audio microphone capability is actually better than the built in bluetooth. Feedback I've gotten from people on the other end of the call is excessive road noise (presumably because of the larger microphone) with the BT45.

On the flip side, the built in bluetooth only outputs sound from the left speaker near the steering wheel and it's not particularly loud so when the family zoo goes to town in back seat, it's pretty hard to hear.

Just tucked mine up and under the steering wheel / console plastics. Was the easiest way and didn't involve taking s*** apart. Ran the mic right up to the dash and the bluetooth works fine. Can still connect into it for people who still use AUX jack
