I just began reading it and every single paragraph is informative and interesting (each page has Japanese on one side, english other side, etc). Anyway, 22 pages of nothing but BJ origins. Stuff that I never read anywhere else. The original motors came from 4-ton trucks, etc. Detailed photos showing how the windshield opens from inside and/or folds, all kinds of very informative and intriguing information. The pages are very thick and it is just incredible. The have photos that show you exactly how the seats worked and how you started the original BJ. (there was a switch under the pedal so as to ELIMINATE the SOLENOID) which was there for reliability versus a magnetic switch...etc...there were a bunch of unique things about the first BJ models.

Some pics of the progress on Jerome's 78 build. Kinda dark even after I lightened them up.

Mike, if the pages aren't stuck together when you're done... I wanna see it!

I am not kidding you when I say that this book is a work of art. It is incredible to say the least. I've been on the hunt for this book in all the forums, Amazon.com, etc. I missed out on one on Ebay (kinda like Scott does :P ) anyway, I caught this one in a long list of items a guy had for sale. What a steal. The author is Japanese. It is in both Japanese and English. Pictures are incredible. The guy worked for Toyota and there are nothing but DIRECT from the engineers, designers, workers, founders, and military personnel, etc who provide details and info. It is therefore first hand info direct from Toyota. There are models I never heard of and many things I never saw anywhere else before.

BTW: This AM I scored an 8274 for $275 on LA 4x4....Thinking of using it as a BACKUP winch on the trail or perhaps making it FIT on the 80.

If you don't do anything w/ it, I'd buy it from you. Use on a 45 or on the red truck.

Wow, you suck :flipoff2:  what a killer deal, good for you bud. For that kinda a deal I'd put it on the 80, I know its not what you wanted but it's enough to get you out of a bind and a damn good winch. Drew has one on his Bronco and I know his Bronco is pushing 5K lbs and it sucked him right up the winch hill in Sicily in half the time of any of the other winches. Doubled with a snatch block it would be no prob :D

Not just b/c I want it ...lol. But I'd take the $ from the sale of it (to me) and put it towards a winch that I could hide in the bumper on the 80. :D

...and as far as, "you suck what a killer deal"... dude you find more f'n "killer deals" than anyone I KNOW!!! :flipoff2: YOU are the king of the killer deal.

ummmm rims on truck for one example from Harold.... lol

Not me Bro that was by accident. We dug them out of a trash pile. But I'm happy to have them. Where is Lucky Charms he's all about the good deals. He's working on one as we speak.

P.S. Mighta found a bib ..but not in a trash pile ;p

I'd put the 8274 on the 80. I was looking at specs for the XD9000 which fits nicely...and figuring on extra cable synthetic and snatch block....we'll see.

I'd put the 8274 on the 80. .....

:crybaby:

....bad part is the snatch block etc.. to handle that kinda load. Good part is the reliability of the 8274

Was at U-Tech picking up some shackles for the bumper today. That place has some cool stuff. I looked for some heavy duty tow straps they were out. Should have looked for a snatch block I want one as well. Food for thought I was curious myself as I'm living through Mike for plans when I add an 80 to my garage. :D
