Anyone ever been in an International Scout?
Yup... Rebuilt and sold a 1964 Scout 80. What do yu want to know about them?

Scouts are good vehicles, very capable as well. In the 70's they put out some well built 4WD's. Between Cruisers, Broncos, Scouts, Land Rovers, beeps, and the Dodge Power Wagon there were a few to choose from. :)

Chris's Scout below, whats left of it after it caught on fire and rolled several times.

Thats the restored pic. The rolling and catchin fire took place last year sometime. He was parked like that while we were working. His truck was the test mule after the trails are cut and cleared he drives the mule through it.

Like a Redneck roller coaster. Going up

I like the look of built up Scouts and hear some good things about them. What did you do to and with yours before selling it? A 1964 is the third year they came out with them, isn't it?

There are a bunch of them around the berry. There was one for sale for quite a while, not sure if it ever sold.

I am Land Cruiser fanatic all-the-way. I have often admired many of the old school rigs like the Power Wagons especially (there's a very nice dark green model lifted, etc around...not sure how much is original though).

Fact is, I can get nearly everything for my old cruiser in any country on Earth at the Toyota dealership...I feel its not only WORTH it, but certainly remarkable. I love everything about the Land Cruiser...the look, design, function, ruggedness, etc., but most of all Toyota's support for all these years and their loyal followers. I have driven nothing but cruisers since college. My next new vehicle will be a cruiser. I could go off on Rovers at this point and rant and rant, but I'll restrain myself and just say that International Parts Availability for Rovers is a Myth. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find any parts in Mexico whereas you'd get your Cruiser fixed for a six pack easily. You will find tons of real world accounts that spell out how nice it is to be in a Land Cruiser.

What the hell am I doing? I AM in the Land Cruiser forum..

Here's one account that I find entertaining, its called the "Turtle Expedition" --NOT to be confused with a trip to Larry's shop:

Damn I kept reading waiting for the part where they replaced the 67 Rover with a 67 Turtle Cruiser like at the Landry house and expected to see my 67 in there. The disappointment is driving me to drink bottoms up

LOL, the Turtle was the first thing I thought of when I read that story...there's a number of really good stories like this from people who "upgraded" while living overseas, etc.

Yes the scout 80 first came out in 1961. It came in many different versions such as pick-up type, cover bed(bronco style, or no top at all. I had the pick-up type. It was an ex texas border patrol unit that was bought buy my grandfather for my mother to drive to high school. We when took it to our hunting ranch in south texas were after not using it alot it was getting a pain to keep going. Plus parts were expensive and hard to find. So my grandfather said he was going to sell it. I said no way. I rebuilt the engine, carb and fixed the dents. The scout had no rust, none. Painted it put a lift on it and some mickey thompsons. It was fun but the slant 4 cylinder wasnt much engine for a very heavy solid truck. Anyway I fell in love and sold it to pay for some of the wedding. Not my smartest move, which I will have to live with. I called the guy that bought it a year or two later to buy it back and was told it wasnt for sale but was sitting in his drive way awaiting repair. :crybaby: I should have never called.

Ok, Cannon... this is what was "hanging" around the Fatima school lot this am.... lol..

..for the most part.. I just think they're stupid. I actually laughed when I thought about Fa Russo walking out and seeing them. ... then I had to explain to one of my passengers that noticed them (I said nothing) that it was for the guy's boat.

Okay, that picture is freaky! As a moderator, i may have to delete it!

You never know though, it may have been Russo's truck! You've seen the way some of the moms dress so you and I can't be too surprised that some wingnut dad had that on his truck. Or, it could have been one of the construction workers. Will scope it out tomorrow. I cracked up when I saw that TM this morning.

Hi Guys,

I am wrapping up the final details on the group order for Ehsan's Pakistani soft tops. Place your order asap by going to www.global-ims.intranets.com and using the "Enter as a Guest" link. We have 12 buyers (11 confirmed). I heard PScottBx and Armond might be interested.

Ricardo

PS: Sorry I missed the party Sunday, but I had to put some work on the FJ40 after missing two weekends in a row. Withdrawal is not fun!
