What a shame. That's too pretty of a piece of property. I hope someone with some wisdom and authority can come along and save that place and make it into a park or something, not another concrete wasteland where grocery stores, shops and banks go to die.

Give it up... someone has $$$ signs in his/her eyes. The concrete trucks are probably loading up as we speak.

Yea, I love this group of prostesters with savethehorsefarm. They were interviewed while they gathered out on Johnson Street to wave their signs. Their message was that they were not giving up on their effort to save the property and have it become some sort of park. It was noted that the property had a value of about $10,000,000. The group said they thought they could raise the necessary amount of funds to accomplish their mission. THEN, they were asked how much money they had raised thus far. Their answer was a whopping $4,000.00 I think it's fair to say that they have a long way to go. I don't want anyone to think that I am against a nice 100 acre park, it's just that I am realistic about the chances of that happening. I wish them all the success in the world. Who knows, if they fail, maybe I'll buy it and turn it into an "offroad" park for wheeling cruisers!

There were all kind of folks getting angry out there yesterday. I guess the UL Pres decided he'd go out with a bang. I'm watching them haul it all away now. I just hope whoever gets it has sense to do some good with it. I don't want to look out the window at another parking lot.

I just wanted to say that I just finished judging the junior division of the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association's Youth Journalism Contest. This was my second year doing it so I weeded through the crop of entries faster than last time. One that stood out was a story from a kid that wrote a great article about his hunt in Africa. I knew it was a top entry right from the start, but the icing on the cake was the fact that he specifically mentioned the Land Cruiser that the guide brought up to haul his zebra out.

I'm going to ask permission to either post it here and maybe even on our site if that's okay with everyone. I'm also going to ask if they have some pics of the Cruiser to share.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Very nice. If I can find some of the mutal of omaha documentaries on DVD I'm going to pick them up. I remember watching those with the family and seeing the Landcruisers and Land Roverss on these expeditions. Good stuff.

The one in the front of the bumper is a receiver winch that can be used in the rear as well. :)
