Hello all! I am friends with the Camp Director for Camp Bartlett, owned by the Boy Scouts of America, just northwest of Montpelier, Idaho in National Forest lands. Every spring he has the chore of preparing camp for the coming year, repairing damage caused by the winter and unauthorized visitors, and building new features.
I am trying gauge interest from the IH8MUD community in doing a spring camp where we take our rigs and families up, work a couple days on the camp, and play a couple days on the 2 lakes and miles of hiking trails and unimproved roads.
I am headed to his house tonight to discuss some details, but thought I'd start a thread here to get the ball rolling. If anyone has experience putting something like this together, I welcome your feedback and input.
Here is a link to some pictures of a winter camp with the Search and Rescue organizations from the area, taken a year ago.
Here is a link to some pictures from the spring when my family went up to help. You can see a few of the types of things that need to done, as well as some of the great features of the camp.
If you put these coordinates in to Google maps, you can see the camp. :
42.406791,-111.485825
Features:
-Cabins and lodges for the
-Trails and roads for the family
-Canoes and Kayaks for the lakes
-Established campgrounds in a beautiful setting
-No crowds that you wish weren't there
-There is a shooting range for firearms and bows
One stipulation is that there can be NO alcohol on BSA property. I'm sure he'll fill me in on some other stuff.
So please let me know of the interest level and I'll fill you in on the details as they become available.
