Any input on the brand FFC? I'm looking at this for my tractor. I think this would be an awesome toy to use on my property, but there's so many brands. It's probably the old Chevy vs Ford argument, but I thought I'd ask. TIA.

Been running the heavy stuff for about 25 years and can't say the name rings a bell. But that don't mean much as it seems like they cater to a smaller type of machine. Looks like a real nice unit.
If it's US made and reasonably priced go for it. It's a good time to be able to wheel and deal price on equipment and attachments.

Sorry, Joe. I should have given some specs on the tractor. It's a Kubota L3940 HST: 40 horse. Not very big, but enough for me and my 5 acres.

The grapple bucket I'm looking at is used. New they're getting $2700 for this model, but this guy wants $1400.

I have a few attachments for my skidsteer. The problem with some brands is the hose routing, and the way the attachment connects. One bucket of mine has too much play between the machine and the attachment. I would make sure the hoses dont get pinched and there is no slop when you engage it.

That's a nice tractor. I borrow my father in law's all the time though his Kubota is a little bigger and has a bucket and 3 point hitch.

If you you do get the grapple be careful of grabbing the long stuff and making turns off level. They can get tipsy real quick.

Let us know how you make out if you go for it.

Good advice, thanks!

Again, good advice. Thanks! Does your FILs tractor have liquid filled tires? I'm curious how much they help on side slopes.

No his aren't filled. He has a tree service business and uses it to get in backyards alot so the extra weight would tear up and rut the already bitchy customer's grass I would imagine.

Mine are filled with Rimguard, so I can't help but think with the lower CG, it has to be more stable on side slopes. Regardless, I really don't want to roll a tractor. Too many people have been killed that way.

wear your seatbelt and keep the rollbar in the upright position. It is easy to get lazy when working with the tractor...I have been trying to be better with mine. When I get on the crawler or the backhoe, I start to think about how easy one will roll - and neither of those have seatbelts or rollbars.

A weight box in the rear or a heavy attachment on the rear goes a long way for the stability of the tractor.

Just picked up a 7' Land Pride back blade. Not the heaviest thing in the world of tractors, but it'll help. thanks!

So did you get the grapple?

I did, but haven't really had the opportunity to play with it yet. Almost every minute of seat time on the Kubota has been double duty, widening my switchback down into my pasture and bringing my wife's garden spot up to grade, so lots of bucket work.

But I replace most of the hoses and made sure everything works right. There's definately a technique (that I have to work on) for picking up trees out of a pile. I think the brush piling will be fun, though. Pics to come.

We want the pics of when you are learning to use it, not when you mastered it.

OIC, you want to see me all frustrated and throwing stuff........That happens daily. ;)
