Behind the tin that is suppossed to protect the locker acuator is a cover that is held on with 2screws. It is part of the assembly, it seems to be a cover plate. Yesterday while wheeling a rock hit the whole assembly and bent back the protector and since the protector is bolted to this cover plate, the cover plate also broke off a little.. An 80 cruiser guy I was with seems to think behind this cover is the spring that is part of the engagement process of the locker. He suggested I cover it ASAP, so I zip tied a plastic bag over it and drove home..The locker is still working, I just don't want to get dirt in there and gunk up the operation..

Anybody else ever see this or have a parts locker mechanism that I may be able to get this cover from? I will try to post a picture soon of the area of concern....

Thanks

A picture of what you damaged would be helpful. I just had mine apart and can probably help once I see the damage.

Here is the picture...notice the missing piece of metal (aluminum??)

When I had mine apart it was the first time I really had a chance to look at the sheet metal locker covers. That is definitely on the project list...especially after seeing bc's pic. It doesn't look like it would be very difficult or time consuming to make a solid protector...someday I'll let you know;)

Thanks for the link...looks like the cover I broke does have the spring behind it. I don't really want to buy a whole locker, so I guess I will have to patch that hole...any ideas on how?

I am screwed, any tips or ideas to fix would be awesome...

Thanks

THis is the picture of the intact part from the link...the same part that the cover is broken on mine

I wouldn't know how to patch it not knowing if it is pot metal or aluminum...but it might be worth trying to locate one at a used parts/"pick'n'pull" place.
