My knee is killing me from constantly changing gears in traffic. So, I was thinking of installing a clutch booster for my PZJ70RV-KR (1990).

Techinically, what does it involve?

Secondly, I want to do it on the cheap and was advised that I could probably get away with using second hand boosters from other landcruiser models or other brand of vehicles all together.

Lastly, will the clutch booster make depressing the clutch significantly easier?

Im not sure if they have a booster or just a different set up, but i was wheelin a mates vdj79 for the day the other weekend and the clutch was the softest clutch in a land cruiser i have ever pushed, it has 30,000 km on the clock

The boosted clutch is as light or lighter than something like a Honda Civic. I would not call the PZJ clutch without a booster all that heavy though.

What market is your PZJ from?

The booster sits inside the vehicle under the dash on RHDs and to the outside or the firewall on the LHDs.

It is also on the the firewall/engine bay of RHD 70 series with a 3F. A 60 series RHD booster is also interchangeable if you change the rod length. Firewall is different to non boosted models weather it is underdash or in the engine bay. Fitting a engine bay one would be easiest.

are you sure there isnt something wrong with your clutch if its that heavy, I've had lots of different configurations of factory and chev clutches in my cruisers and the only one thats ever been heavy is the 2f twinplate clutch running off a 1" bore master cylinder in my 70 series cruiser that takes some serious musscle power to push in all my other ones have been easy on the leg

It's a RHD with a 4 speed transmission. So, will the clutch booster sit inside the vehicle or outside? From the pic will the booster be a bolt on fit?
