I just now broke a bolt in the passenger side frame (A/C drip zone) where the front sway bar bracket connects to the frame. I have the tools to drill and re-tap in the frame. However, the torsion bar is in the way.

Can I just un-bolt the front of the torsion bar at the carrier and slide it out of the way to make room? I am sure it is harder than the original  job. What is the best way to go about this?

Just make a through hole and get rid of the captured nut.

The torsion bar is under tension, so you'll have to look up the procedure for removing it. I'm sure there are lots of t-bar replacement threads here on MUD.

jack up the front, loosen the torsion bar adjustment bolt all the way, make match marks on the front of the bar just in case, then yank/pry the torsion bar rearwards.
