I had the honor to spend the last 10 days out on the West Coast, first doing some Tread Lightly training in Camano Island (Saturday), then up to British Columbia (Sunday - Saturday) to join the 4WD Association of British Columbia for a week of Train the Trainer with the I4WDTA. Did it all, from basic line selection, HiLift, Tread Lightly, winching and recovery. Combination of classroom and hands-on, every day.
Got back yesterday and missed the storm drama. But hey, I may be able to make LR2018 now!!
It was an amazing week with some amazing trainers, with Chris Cole and Bill Burke who drove all the way from Ohio and Colorado. And look, Bill Burke drove his Tacoma! Lots of Toyota products from the instructors, the students had Jeeps and Toyotas. The other three instructors had Tacos, from 2017 to 1996 and are part of 3 Amigos Offroad in Washington. Check them out, they do amazing trips out that way.
Rained a lot, one day we got 6 inches in 2 hours. My old tent leaked (cheap Walmart one) like a sieve even with drizzle, so had to buy a canopy from Canadian Tire (eh?) to cover it, kept it dry all week and sleeping on that cool weather with rain on the canopy was amazing.
Chris Cole, President of I4WDTA, drove his Troopy all the way from Ohio! Being from South Africa, he had no problem with a RHD yota.
Stave Lake and surrounding area, amazing views. Lots of liquid sunshine after a summer of forest fires was a welcome sight for the locals, but sucked for us.
The association canopies, nice backdrops with photos of their past projects.
No, Bill didn't get stuck, this was a training setup, they did pull his Taco out with a HiLift. The man is an amazing fountain of knowledge.
And duffus maximus, wearing a Smokey the Bear t-shirt for Tread Lightly effect.
