There may be an issue with the bushings I made. Can someone with a pre 1971 carrier post some pictures of their carrier mounts?

does the 1958-9/1971 tire carrier have bushings?? My pins fit fairly close and I can't find any bushings, though I may have lost them when I took it apart. (this is the tire carrier with the threaded rod).

Anyone know for sure? Coolerman? You took yours apart... any bushings?

I'll add some pics...

The barrel of that hinge is different than the bushing types, I can see that. That is a machined piece that looks to fit tight on the pin. The flanges that mount to the body are welded to it. The next version of the hinge that takes the bushings is a formed piece, that includes the body mount flanges and has been formed into a barrel for the pin. The hole is an imperfect circle because of the that and the bushings make the pin fit tightly.

I think your assumption is correct, I cant see where that hinge assembly would have used a bushing. Looks like a grease zerk would be more useful on it.

Well now i feel dumb for asking for a bushing! Any benefit in getting them machined out so the bushings fit?
Ant, I'm happy to send you a refund if you want one.

I'll have to look at the two flat carriers I have. One for each side of my trailer. I did not recall them having different hinges on them (other than being for different sides).
