My lx started having a weird brake grinding in the front. Almost feels like they are not grabbing just when your coming to the final stop. At higher speeds there is no noticeable change.

I assumed my brakes needed serviced and quickly ordered pads/rotors from my local dealership. We are of course leaving for a trip in a week and half so I panicked to make sure I could get oem parts on time. Pulled the tires off today and the pads are in great shape. I can't see any issues with the rotors either. They are about 3 years old and 20k miles.

Any other ideas what could cause this?

It almost sounds like your ABS is kicking in. Does it sound the same as when you use the lowest speed on crawl control? Any corresponding flashing lights in dashboard?

Does anyone know if you can buy a completely assembled caliper from anywhere?

The cylinder is completely frozen on mine. The pins still slide ok, but I can't get he piston to move which I am sure was my problem. It was covered in a lot of gunk from my dirt roads/winter etc.

On my 100 series, Napa eclipse calipers with Japanese markings (open the box and confirm) are the same as OEM calipers, just reman’d - maybe similar situation for the 200. Some research would confirm it.

at a minimum a Napa caliper assembly might do you for the trip while you await OEM parts.

When I replaced all four calipers I used Rockauto. They had remanufactured Raybestos calipers for something like 60 bucks if you returned the cores. Worked great. Far better deal than $400 dollar dealer calipers.

Yes, calipers come completely assembled except for the pads. Just bolt on with new pads/hardware and bleed the lines. Though probably not necessary, I’ve always replaced both calipers L/R at the same time.

I replaced the pads and rotors all the way around. I also replaced the rear calipers since the right side was frozen. Bled the brakes with all new fluid.

Now, I have a new scraping issue on the left rear. I am pretty sure it's the parking shoes scraping. I pulled it apart and there was a lot of dust inside the caliper and the inside looked like it got hot. Initially, I had adjusted the spinner thing tight and then 8 back. When I took it apart again I spun the thing all the way down to loosen the shoes. Even with that I still have this awful scraping noise as the tire rotates.

I am not sure if the first drive the parking was too tight and somehow messed it up or if it's something else. There is no other obvious spots where it's rubbing. Any ideas?

There is a write up on carspec about our rigs in the rust belt areas. Mine is actually rubbing/grinding now. Less then before but can still hear on a sharp turn.

Sorry, I figured out my problem after some testing. The rotor wasn't seating correctly even after torquing on the wheel a couple times. It was just out of round enough to rub. Once I got it seated no more problem. My dust shields looked good. I been spraying them with fluid films for a couple years.
