I had a sticky caliper, so I replaced both of them plus new pads. It is still dragging a little. I only notice it after everything is warmed up. The truck will stop on a dime and give you nine cents change when the pads and rotors are cold but they soon glaze over and fade. I lost the spring that attaches to the brake pedal while installing a booster. Is the weight of the brake pedal enough to make them drag?

Just ignore it. It'l probably go away. If not the worse that can happen is that your truck will burn to the ground.

Gimme a break man! Im trying to turn over a new leaf. I'm only ignoring smells and problems for a month,,then I figure its time to let you fix it :flipoff2:

Thanks for all the help. Just a few more posts like those and I'll have it nailed. ;p

Those things have been bled more times than Dracula's best girl friend. Can't hurt to bleed again though.

Yes you do need the return spring or they can/will drag. Since their new calipers I can assume the piston's were pushed all the way in and functioning or are they rebuilts?

They are reman's. So you think the weight of the pedal could cause it?

Just drove it home, about 20 miles, from work. I pulled the brake pedal towards me with my left foot(safety blah blah blah). It did great but it gave me shin splints. No fading, dragging, or burning smell. Of course it was mostly highway driving so not alot of brake application. Still some detective work to do but its looking like that dang spring is the culprit.

haha use a rubber band for now......i heard that drum brakes are suppose to drag a lil...i could be wrong let me know if i am

Drum breaks should be against the law.

TB :bounce:

Just got in new wheel cylinders. Planning on rebuilding the drums soon. The only thing not new or rebuilt on my brake system will be the hard lines. Not bad for for a redneck that used to think brakes were for :princess: . Thanks for the help. I'll keep you posted.

Imagine that! That spring is there for a reason? I figured it was there for the bling. We are on for my valve adjustment tomorrow PM. Come by right after work if you can and the hardware store will still be open. You can take my spring up there and match it. I am also going to change the oil in my transfer while you are here. Almost 1500 miles since rebuild, figure there could possibly be some floaties in there that I can get out before they do damage.
