I have a 2004 tacoma 4x4 with wrapped rotors and pads that need replaced. I wad taking to my buddy and have a option to get rotors calipers with new pads off of a 2010 tacoma for cheaper then my other parts would cost and I wanted to know if this was possible or if it is a pipe dream?

What year did they Tacoma's change body styles? 04 is the last year of that body style, correct? If that is correct then you can do the tundra upgrade. Not sure about the late model Tacoma swap, but the tundra swap is very straight forward. The rotors are the same diameter, just way thicker, which combats warping much better. You do have to swap to Tundra calipers as well. What wheels you have will dictate which of the two calipers you can run. The 199s will bolt onto any of them, but the 231s have to have certain wheels to clear their larger size.

It actually isn't the size but the way they clear the caliper on the sides. The 231 caliper is "fatter" and some wheels will rub the inside of the wheel faces. This is one of the most comprehensive sets of specs and information that I have found and used it when I did my upgrade on my 98 4Runner.

I used StopTech slotted rotors and NAPA calipers and ceramic pads and replaced my soft lines while I was at it. Aside from a little trimming on the backing plate to clear the bigger calipers, it is truly a bolt on upgrade.
