Hi Guys,

Anybody have a recommendation on where to get the best deal from a online vendor for new brakes on my 200LC? Also do you guys recommend OEM or do after market brands work just as well?

thanks

From past experience with aftermarket rotors they seem to warp easier than OEM ones unless you are using very high end aftermarket ones. I just did rotors and pads using OEM parts from Toyota and very happy with the results. I think all 4 rotors and two sets of pads ran about $450 or so.

I have 16 LC and front brake pads are very dusty. Almost as bad as BMWs. Within a week wheels needs to be washed. Do you see the problem with previous years?

Best remedy for brake DUST =

...take it off road.

You won't be bothered with brake dust any more. :hillbilly:

The best remedy for brake dust I have found is to Plastidip your wheels grey or black so you won't notice. True story. :)

Tried Plasticdip already in dark grey. It didn't look good and had a weird texture. Took it off immediately.

I think metallic or pearlized plastidip helps immensely to hide it, versus flat colors. I just pressure washed the 'dip off of our BMW's wheels in prep for selling it and the color difference between the front and back was minimal, but the dust on the fronts was disgusting, and would have looked terrible on the alloy finish, but was almost invisible on the anthracite gray.

I'm going to R&R rotors, pads and fluid. I've never regretted using OEM Toyota parts for anything.

In my experience brake dust is a by product of quality brake pads making friction. Some have theorized that the flat black/dark wheel trend began from emulation of high-end brands (eg BMW/MB) which are notorious for wheels blacked out by brake dust.
