I searched briefly but couldn't find an answer so I am hoping someone knows off the top of their head.
Doing the brakes on the truck and the front pads have a metal clip which I believe is the wear indicator. Do these go on the top or bottom or does it matter? Thanks.
Sorry, I am actually referring to the clip attached to the pad itself. It is only on one side and since both pads are identical they could be installed either way. I have all the other clips and shims figured out.
This is where I am at, so wouldn't be that hard to pull the caliper off if I needed to reverse the orientation. Right now the clips are on top (towards the top of the caliper when installed)

Iirc, open end of clip (what's shown at the top of the picture, goes down. I.e., closed end (on the far left and right-hand sides of the pic) points in the direction of the rotor's rotation.
Sorry, my description of the issue is not very clear. What I am calling the top is the end of the caliper that the rotor exits when moving in a forward direction. The bottom is the end that the rotor enters when moving in a forward direction. This is the top and bottom when looking at the installed caliper from the side of the truck.
The pad can only go in one way regarding inside rotor diameter / outside rotor diameter (we'll call it left/right), the caliper bolts and pins ensure that. The wear indicator has to be on the inside rotor diameter like you show, but it is possible by swapping and rotating the pad (all on one wheel) to install the pad so the wear indicator is on the top (your picture shows it on bottom). The FSM diagram I am looking at does not show the orientation of this clip or the M shaped clip.
