Ok guys, I know there are a ton of threads on this but I think i have it narrowed down and want some MUD help before taking to the dealer or tackling myself. My wife was backing out of our driveway in her 99 and had complete brake failure. Approx. 30 minutes later I was able to check things out. When I started the Cruiser, the pump built pressure and brakes worked perfect. The BRAKE and ABS light stayed on. After a few blocks of careful driving, the warning lights went off, and system is still normal. No loss of fluid either.

I'm thinking either bad electrical contact on pump, a failing pump, or a failing pressure switch. ANY advise on where and how to start would be greatful as this is the DD for my wife and kids.

MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE

Just let the Cruiser sit for an hour or so and ABS/Brake lights came on again until pump pressurized the system. Could it be the air reservoir (accumulator/canister) is to blame? Also, pumped real hard on pedal with ignition off and got the same ABS/BRAKE light on until system re-pressurized. Was able to feel pedal go soft too (vehicle off).

THanks.

inspect the system for leaks, if its not leaking then the pump isnt holding pressure.

If the all the pressure goes out in less than an hour, it's a bit leaky.

How many pumps with ign off before the pedal went soft?
