Hi all Cruiser owners. I'd certainly appreciate any guidance as I think I have a pretty common problem.

After owning a FJ60 and FJ80, I recently "upgraded" to a used 2002 LX470. It was a clean car and well maintained.

About 3 months after purchase, I had a loud alarm bell along with multiple lights on the dashboard - ABS, engine light, etc. It only happens sporadically and when I first start driving. From what I gather, I have learned that is a brake booster/master cylinder issue as the booster loses pressure overnight.

I'm not a mechanic, but I would appreciate any guidance on how to fix the problem. It appears this is a $3K fix at the dealers. Ouch. Is the only solution replacing the MC/Booster?

Thanks in advance
Phil

Thanks LEX. those pics look like a good step by step tutorial from Skidoo.

I've replaced an alternator in my FJ62 and that's about it....so this is likely beyond my limited skils, but I'll check with local mechanics to see if they could get this done.

The only advice I've gotten is to replace the whole assembly unit. You could save the parts cost if you can find a MC/Booster at a salvage yard.

I think I've seen one or two in the classifieds here. Check it out and good luck.

Definitely not a repair you want to put off...
