Well, here's some Friday good news...at least for me! I'm now the proud owner of 2 Land Cruisers!

More pictures next week once I take delivery, but it's a '99 w/ 62K miles and 2 owners (never leased). Looks like it had an easy life as a 2nd or 3rd family car that was garaged.

Looking forward to being more active on the 100 Series forum!

This is my 3rd Land Cruiser...in the mid-'90s used to have a pristine FJ-60...currently have a FJ-40 that I restored...and now this LX-470. I'm not known for keeping things 100% stock and this truck with it's locking diff keeps me from having to perform that modification! First thing will likely be to migrate my massive Con-Ferr roof rack over to this truck from the FJ40.

Any general thoughts on the '99s appreciated...and especially suggestions on tires as this truck needs a new set.

Nice score..... drop on by my house tomorrow so I can take a look :grinpimp:

Welcome to the 100 series. They are great trucks.

If you're going to wheel it, I'd recommend Slee's step sliders. I can't recommend anything special as far as tires. I think you have similar choices as the 80 series, even the opportunity to run 285's without a lift. We currently have 275 Michelins on our 100.

On other upgrade would be the bumpers. The front bumper is about worthless and could really stand to be replaced with something better from ARB or Slee when he decides to start mfg. one.

Will take delivery of the truck next week...but I might drop by tomorrow in the FJ40 if I can free up some time.

Yes, running boards come off soon and at some point I'd like to find a set of basic sliders for the truck as I'll be doing some off-road in the truck but saving the harder stuff for the FJ40. Had a ARB bumper on a prior truck so that's my first choice for this truck when the time comes...

Regarding near term and tires, I'm leaning heavily towards Yokohama Geolander Mud Terrain or BFG KM2 A/T or M/T...really like the GY Wrangler MTRs on my FJ40 so I was also thinking about the GY Dura-Tracs as a compromise for daily use.

Have you thought about the FS destination MT?? Ask Brian about his. They are great tires.

Yeah, I like Slee's products but it's simply too pricey for me...the rear bumper is awesome but to get the bumper + 2 swing-outs that's $2,500!

If anyone gets a line on used ARB or TJM front or a rear w/ carrier let me know...

It's tough to find any used for 80s or 100s. FYI, IPOR is running a special through tomorrow with free shipping on ARB. I'm considering for the 80...

PM S.CarolinaFZJ80

He lives here in Charlotte. He was just over at my house and has 5 Goodyear Dura tracs 285's on his rig. I think there is only a couple hundred miles on 4 and non on the spare. He was saying he wanted to get rid of them to go up to a 315.

Great looking truck, looks to be a LX470 is that correct? Did those come with the rear locker and rear A/C? When I had my 100 series it was also a 99, I added an ARB to the front and was disappointed to see the front end drop due to the weight of the ARB, SEE PICS. besides that I thought the bumper fit very nicely on the truck and gave it a less of a luxorious look.

Nice score Drew!

I'm really digging the interior color scheme!! I've always liked these trucks and that new Slee front bumper doesn't look half bad either.

LT1: Thanks! Sam and I are trading IMs about the Dura Tracs.

Southern: Yes, it is a LX-470...when I started looking for a 100 Series, I forgot about the Lexus LX-470 at first. From what I found, and generally speaking to what's on the market right now, the TLC's seem to have led a harder life but more of the Lexus variety are in better shape. I'm guessing b/c of who the Lexus is marketed to... But yes, rear locker (yes!), rear air, and 3rd row seat is on this one...no NAV or DVD system which is fine with me. Wow...the front of your TLC really dropped with the ARB. But I know the ARB is heavy...last time I installed an ARB we used a floor jack with wood blocks to lift and hold the bumper in place while we bolted it up.

S4: Yes, the color scheme is growing on me and maybe when it gets here I'll like it even better. The River Rock Grey Metallic (which I think is the bottom of this truck) was the color I wanted all over the truck. But hey, when you are buying second hand my philosophy is forget color and get the best condition truck you can find. But I do admit to striking the "pearl white" Lexus LX-470 from my list! So what are you up to now...an 80 series + two 40 series???

Great looking 100!

The rear locker is interesting. That was not offered in the US SPEC Lexus models. The Canadian spec LX470s had the rear locker offered in 1999. The switch is to the left of the steering wheel, just like the 80s.

The ARB bumper and warn 10k winch can be held up with the OME torsion bars. Check out slee's site for info.

Also, do you need headers? We are doing a group buy. Good for about 10 hp and does away with the cracked manifold issue. See my sig line.

OK, update. Finally got the truck. It was shipped from SD and the delivery was over a week late.

Spoke to the Lexus dealer where the truck was sold new and then serviced since day 1...now I have complete service records on the truck and they did a 60K service on it just a few months ago! Apparently, the previous owner also drove a Lamborghini and was pretty particular about service and upkeep on his vehicles...and it shows as it is even nicer than I expected.

So I've had it now for a few weeks and really like it. Must be getting older as I find myself keeping the suspension in "comfort" mode. LOL!

Correction to my earlier post...it's not a rear locker but a center locking differential. While the rear locker would have been nice, I had a CLD on a '97 Discovery and really liked being able to lock the front/rear diffs when crawling over rock ledges, etc. in the mountains.

Need to get the running boards off of it, but want to get front mud flaps before I do that...

It does need new tires and I think the Michelins are the original tires b/c they rotated these things every 5K miles! Still not sure which tires I'm going to go with, but fairly certain I don't want 285's eventhough this is what most w/ 100 series use. I'd like to go at least 295's and I think I could get away with 305's too. While I wanted to put Yokohama Geolandar M/T tires on it, I'm starting to think that I'll destroy the ride/road manners for the 10-15% of the time I'm off-road. Need to remember that's what the FJ40 is for... So, I'm leaning towards either BFG A/Ts or Nitto Terra Grapplers.

Also, if anyone has a cheap (used) receiver hitch for a 100 series laying around let me know!
