Just recently purchased the borla catback system an a kn cold air intake. having them put on tomorow. Anything i can expect from them other than better sound? Saw one thread on here where a guy had a mileage jump from 15 to 18. sounds unreal. Just wondering what i can expect on my lx

I wouldn't use a K&N if you live on a dusty area IE: you drive on a dirt road every day. They don't offer much protection IMO.

I wouldn't expect that kind of jump in mileage. The OEM intake has been proven many times to have very little restriction at stock power levels. Likewise for the exhaust. You will gain some nice throaty V8 sounds but as for actual increases in mileage, don't expect a miracle. I'd actually expect your mileage to go down a bit since you'll likely be mashing on the skinny pedal to hear more of that new V8 rumble. ;)

A 3mpg gain on these rigs is almost impossible to get. Results vary by each individual vehicle though, so who knows what you'll end up with. Post back in a few weeks with some mileage results.

Yeah that mileage sounded nuts, maybe on the highway? 3weeks should be about 2.5 tanks so results will be pretty valid

If you get 15 mpg with these V8's, count your blessings. If you get 18, buy a lottery ticket.

I've found that 89 octane gives me a 1 mpg bump to just under 14 mpg (80% highway). The best I've averaged is 14.5...no a/c, driving downhill from 7000 ft to 2000 ft elevation over a 100 mile stretch with 1 big uphill in between.

With 87 octane, I get 12.5 city/13.0 hwy.

Holy hell, sounds nice an the bitch will ride out. not sure on mileage, my foot is too strong against it right now

Holy ****, sounds nice an the ***** will ride out. not sure on mileage, my foot is too strong against it right now

How long did the install take? I am very close to doing it, but was planning on doing the headers first. Already have Flowmaster exhaust and can't wait to complete the trifecta :flipoff2:

I got both. The Borla is timid. I replaced the muffler with an SLP and cut off the resonator. As far as the K&N, sounds neat, but I don't see any mpg gains. Then again with all the armor and 33s, I didn't expect any.

-youll need to clean the k&n often, like once a month. otherwise your mileage will be destroyed.

-i never payed attention to my mileage since my comute was only 5 miles each way. I ran a k&N panel for a year w/o cleaning it. turned out i was getting 8mpg on the highway because the maf looked like two little rat turds. tossed that thing the next day. toyota filters from now on. to much maintanece for pretty much a 0 hp gain. k&n charger kit would just be a waste imo.
