I'm replacing a quarter panel on my '85 FJ60. I'm pretty new to this kind of work and I was wondering if there's a trick to separating the body panels after the spot welds have been drilled out. Some of the sections come apart easily and others are a royal PITA. I tried cutting beyond the spot weld but still have the same result...seems like there's something else holding it in place. I thought about using a heat gun but didn't want to warp the steel, and wasn't sure if that was the best method. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies, this is very helpful...I've also found that an air chisel doesn't shy away from this kind of work :)

I'm also working on documenting a complete roof swap on my FJ60 and in some places three sheets of metal converge into one seam and it's been a little tricky to navigate to say the least. I'll post results/pics as soon as I have them.

Thanks again for all the help guys!
