Big hail storm back in February did a number on my 2016 LX. Took it to a 'reputable' local shop that administered $12K worth of 'repair' work through a claim with my insurance company. Long story short, they've broken or damaged; cargo ceiling air vent, cargo ceiling light, headliner and have caused a major leak in the roof at the rear roof rail attachment location. I've been back 5 times over 3 months and the nightmare continues. I'm looking for a competent shop that will fix the roof leak the right way. Is taking it to a Lexus dealership that right way to go? I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Roof leak at the rack is caused by either using/reusing the wrong parts or actual damage to the body that prevents sealing. As this was a hail damage not collision, I suspect the first. Lexus dealer should be able to order and install the OEM seals and bolts (bolts also have large rubber washers for sealing). They need to order and replace all the feet seals not only the back to ensure proper sealing of the roof. The seals are not supposed to be reused. The parts are cheap. Don't know how much they charge for labor. Hope they do not drop the nuts inside the liner, but if they do, they should be able to fix it.

PS tell them about the repair and ask them to inspect the roof metal sheet under the foot. It is possible that the negligent body shop to have left Bondo or paint deposits in the area that now is preventing the seal.

Thanks for the input! Anyone have a preference with either Park Place or Sewell in the DFW area?
If you’re looking for a great independent shop, Complete Customs in McKinney does excellent repair work (exterior and interior). They also have extensive experience working on and building custom Toyota and Lexus trucks.
