this is gonna be ghetto..

paint outside then pull the truck into a covered area so the paint don't get bugs in it :D

quick question, it looks to be about a mon th out before I can actually paint this bitch but it will be mobile this weekend.

I have to repair the lower window corners before a windshield goes in. Can I repair them then shoot with krylon(ish) primer and get a windshield installed? Or is it really important to just do the body work and paint the entire rig before the windshield gets installed...

Primer it .....send it but when it comes time to actually paint DA(sand) where the Krylon primer sticks out(like around the outside of the gaskets) really good.

But as long as you sand it real well i see no issues.

edit....just got off the phone they say crossfire will paint over anything..... Did not used to be that way.

Tried to find diamond voegel around here. I could not.
And honestly, when I buy paint I really like to talk to a actual person and see the mix before it shows up at my door..

If you have something to add please do.

Primer and paint before you install the windshield or anything else. Spray can primer sucks and does not hold well. Paint any areas with bare metal with a 2 part etching primer then go with a good high build primer, sand any spots that do not look good, then paint. After that, install everything. A good primer is just as important as the paint. You might be able to find a primer that can go over bare metal and paint, but all that I have seen said to apply only over propertly prepared bare metal (ie. etching primer). some epoxies have this capability but they are much harder to work with.

Single stage is just a strong as 2 stage but much less forgiving and more difficult to repair light scratches.

Yep, decided to just do it right. Paint then windshield..

I hope that can be a start. I do know what you mean by seeing the mixing. I went to an auto motive store, had em shoot me an $8 sample, and then had d.v. match it.

I am sure it would be a waste of time driving from vegas to the closest one in Utah. Hell , it would cost more in gas, than the paint would cost:bang:

I will have to bitch at the upper echelons to open stores further west.

Thanks :D

Mace I have decent gravity-feed spray gun sander and a large Air compressor 220v If needed

us rednecks use tremclad and a roller brush. after the paint is dried, i heavily wax, soaks right into to the porous industrial enamel. cheap and durable.
