I have an opportunity to buy a 1961 Boston Whaler for dirt cheap. The wife isnt too thrilled about the idea, but with some work it could be really nice/ sell for more:) Anyone know prices for boat storage in the greater Charleston area, someplace decent, marina, storage place, or somewhere I could work on it? Any ideas let me know. Still planning on moving, might commute until our MB house sells. Thanks

Nice, what model?

I love BW's. There have been some great deals letely on my faveroite model, the 17 Montauk. They are selling for half of what they used too. I have seen late 70's models with newer motors and trailers with nice teak sell for under $8,000. Those were asking $16,000 last year. I guess when dealers are marking $5,000-$8,000 off a new CC boat these older boats take a plunge. Kinda like our older Cruisers.;)

Everybody get yourself a Cruiser and a BW now before they go back up once the recession is over.

I saw a nice bumper sticker the other day. It said "The Recession Is Over! Go buy something."

I've lived on or around the water all my life and have owned MANY WHALERS over the past 20 years,(1) 13' (2)15's (2)17's (1)21 and was always a fan until i bought my first SCOUT. After getting a used 1720 SCOUT about 8 years ago, i'll never overpay for another overpriced, rough riding, wave pounding whaler again. I realize they have a great reputation and following but never again.
Not to rain on your parade just wanted to put that out there.
As far a boat storage check out Charleston boat works located on Signal Point Rd. James Island 29412 My neighbor across the street from my home owns it and offers storage as well as glass repairs and a do it your self repairs facility. His name is Kurk.

My Scout Winyah Bay is the best boat I have ever owned.
