My silver FJ is on order. Any thoughts on running boards vs. rock rails? I like the rock rail look but think the running boards might protect the car body better from rock chips.

Rock rails if you go wheelin'. At least that is my opinion.

rails. but then if you're worried about chipping & scratches......

rails, then wrap it in plastic to protect from chips/scratches...ask Beowulf for details;)
or do a search in 80's section:D

where in Wyoming?

My rails are on order, but you should note that they really do not protrude far enough from the rocker panel to allow you much footing to step on them. If you intend to use them to brace your foot on the way in, the rails are difficult.

I have been in touch with both All Pro and Bentup to make a truly bolt on slider that utilizes the stock Toyota rock rail holes.

I had rails on order for a port installation, but they are out for my region, so when the rig comes in the middle of next month, I get a discount since the rails are not avaialble right now.

I would rather have the aftermarket ones anyways, since they stick out more.
